Commonly Asked Questions

Can I add a family member?

If you sign up for the Family plan, you can add up to 3 additional members to your plan! Simply add their individual information whey signing up!

Can I cancel my membership?

You can cancel your membership at any time prior to your first visit. If you use the membership program for a visit, you are responsible for payment of six months of service. If you use the membership program for two or more visits, you can not cancel until the end of your first year.

Do I need a membership card?

No. You simply show up with identification at the time of service and identify yourself as a CareClub member!

Do I save money with this membership program?

CareClub can save you money in several ways.  If you don’t have insurance, CareClub is cheaper than out-of-pocket office visits. For comparison, four (4) office visits without insurance would cost a minimum of $596 in office visit fees alone (not including additional services). CareClub membership fees are only $480 per year (plus the one time set-up fee). Additional services, like x-rays, labs, etc. are also 50% off so the savings is not limited to the cost of office visits alone.

Although it depends on your insurance plan, if you have a high deductible insurance plan, CareClub can also save you money and help avoid high co-pays and deductibles.

How do I get billed?

Each month, we will automatically deduct your membership fee from your debit or credit card.

Is Care Club health insurance and does it affect my insurance deductible?

CareClub is not health insurance and does not replace health insurance. Insurance will never be billed, and your visit will not be counted toward any insurance deductibles. This is a plan that allows you to have access to all AFC Urgent Care Clinics in the Portland area, gain access to all of our services, and receive a 50% discount on those services. All Health Savings Account (HSA) plans can be used for the minimal facility fee as well as any urgent care services required.

What is a facility fee?

This is a nominal fee used to cover basic administrative costs associated with patient processing. This $10 fee is charged for every CareClub visit.

When should I to go to Urgent Care?

It's important to understand when you should go to an urgent care clinic. These facilities are not appropriate for life-threatening illnesses or injuries. Even if your injuries are listed as the most commonly treated, in more severe cases, you may be transported to a local emergency room.

Some examples of illnesses and injuries treated at urgent care facilities:

  • Fractures
  • Sprains or strains
  • Cuts and lacerations
  • Burns
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Yeast infections
  • Pink eye
  • Mono
  • Bronchitis
  • Colds
  • Flu
  • Ear Infections
  • Strep throat
  • Rashes
  • Minor abdominal pain
  • Nausea and/or diarrhea

Urgent Care facilities are also not an appropriate place to manage chronic illness such as diabetes, hypertension, COPD, congestive heart failure, depression or chronic pain. If you have a chronic illness, an urgent care physician may or may not be able to treat you, but will certainly be able to refer you to a primary care provider or an appropriate specialist.

Where can I use my membership benefits?

Both the Individual and Family plans can be used at any of our local Portland area clinics. AFC Portland currently has clinics in Beaverton, NW Portland, Beaverton, and NE Portland. A new clinic will be opening soon in Oregon City!

Why did you start CareClub?

We know health insurance is expensive and sometimes does not cover the costs incurred when you get sick or injured. CareClub helps individuals and families get the urgent care they need at an extremely affordable price.
