Finance Controller | AFC Urgent Care | Portland

AFC Urgent Care began its journey in the Portland area in 2010, and we have grown responsibly and quickly to better serve this growing and conscientious community. We operate primarily on a walk-in basis in all three clinics located across Portland in key locations to provide accessible and affordable care.

The Controller provides high-quality services to AFC Portland's management team and manages Accounting, HR, benefits and other miscellaneous back-office functions. The position reports to the Managing Partner but will have a heavy matrix to the Director of Sales/Marketing.  Job has decision making authority within the scope of responsibility and requires innovation/tenacity to improve internal processes and reporting.  

Prior experience in a medical practice is required. We are looking for candidates who are efficient, tech savvy, professional, with great attitudes and who understand the dynamic nature of this ever-changing industry and its challenges.  We are a team orientated staff that builds and maintains relationships with a reliance on communication, mentorship, and shared goals.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

1) Supervise the performance of Staff Accountant and Accounting vendor (outsourced).

2) Perform monthly Accounting CLOSE by the agreed upon deadline (currently 12th of the following month). Coordinate with the external Tax CPA as needed. Deliver the monthly reports required for management and investors.

3) Supervise the payroll function and closely coordinate the benefits with the HR function/department and vendor.  Deliver excellent service & support and accurate data & accounting. The various responsibilities of the payroll function:
     Process payroll on schedule
     Provide support to HR on Onboarding & Offboarding
     Provide support to HR on Benefits administration

4) Provide Revenue and EBITDA reports to management - weekly, monthly and quarterly - so the team is aware of business trends and issues. Proactively message the management in a timely manner so they can take action.

5) Ensure compliance of all the legal entities, including but not limited to property taxes, payroll taxes, HR reporting, periodic income tax payments etc.

6) Various ad-hoc reports as required by the Managing Partner or Exec management team. The organization relies on this position for critical and frequent reporting for the company bonus program.

Secondary Functions:

Be an EMR super user for the organization and provide reports and solutions as needed.
Be an accounting system (Xero accounting knowledge would be preferred) superuser and provide reports and solutions as needed.
Provide ad-hoc reports from EMR and accounting systems as needed.
Have discussions with management team members to help with data solutions for specific problems they are trying to tackle.

Systems expertise preferred: EMR (DocuTap) and Xero (Accounting)
